Playa Parguito,
Margarita Island or Isla Margarita, Venezuela
The entrance to this tropical
surfing beach is located about 2½ km (about 1½ miles) south towards Porlamar
from Playa El Agua. Playa Parguito has a different feel than Playa El Agua in
that the beach width is narrower. In the corner where most of the activity is
located the waves get large enough to attract the surfers of Margarita Island.
There are a number of
restaurants offering their services during daylight hours including the renting
of chairs and umbrellas. We took these photos at 10 AM on a Monday which is a
very slow time. Don't be fooled! Next to Playa El Agua, this is one of the
favorite meeting places on weekends and national holidays for the Venezuelans.
Due to the width of the beach it can get a little congested on weekends.
You can access Playa Parguito
by bus from either Porlamar or Playa El Agua. There is a road just to the north
of the village of El Tirano with a large sign at the entrance.
